Is the LCD screen or Inverter bad?
I’m working on a friend’s IBM A30p-2653. I recently replaced the hard drive and installed Windows XP. When that was complete and I was configuring some recently installed applications, the screen started to flicker and then went dark (I could still barely see what had been on the screen) then it went completely black. I closed the lid and re-opened it, and the screen was back, but then went off again.
It seems that it will stay on for a while, but will flicker off after a short time.
I’m wondering, since the picture looks fine when the LCD is displaying, does that mean the problem is probably with the inverter card, rather than the screen itself?
i suspect the connection between the mainboard of the laptop and the lcd display to be the problem. You will need to disassemble the the LCD from the main board and check the connection. It could have some oxidation which is causing the short.
