How do you use a domain on your web server?
I just bought a Godaddy.com domain name, emails, the works. I already have my files on my cpu (500gb, 4gb mem, 300gb bandwidth connection).
I want to use the domain i just bought for my website, but i can’t seem to find out how to. Any help would be appreciated. I am using Apache 2.
1) Find out if your provider allows you to run a web server. (Most don’t.)
2) Find out if your provider blocks port 80. (Many do.)
3) Buy a static IP – you can’t point a DNS server at a dynamic IP address.
4) Call GoDaddy tech support and ask them how to point the name at your IP.
