What kind of laptop should I buy?

I need a laptop for school & personal use. I take most of my courses online using Blackboard and need Microsoft 2007 programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I will also download music, browse the internet, watch movies, and download pictures from my Kodak Easy Share using it’s accompanying software. I do have a PC at home, but will be using this computer as my main computer for 2 weeks while I am in Miami getting married and going on my honeymoon. I don’t want to spend more than $700 total. I am very torn between buying a Vista based computer versus a Windows XP based computer. I would rather get XP, but it seems the best deals are on Vista. It would be helpful if people could leave me links so I can check prospective laptops out. Thanks a bunch!

If you want to use Vista, look at the requirements…and double it at least and make sure it’s certified. Triple if you can afford…then Vista should rock your socks. If you learn how to use it, Vista features and technology blows XP away…when it works.

But if you have old programs, they might not work (esp. with 64-bit version). Google “vista compatibility list”. You have to know a bit about computers to get them to work (if they have problems and if there is a solution. Internet has a lot of solutions that smart people share).

Ultimate is the best but if you don’t think you need anything that fancy, Home Premium is good too. SP1 made things better and more compatible with hardware. Unfortunately, Microsoft marketing made people think it will work with old computers but it’s very risky so that’s why there are so many problems. It’s too far ahead in technology and requires new hardware and too many manufacturers sell cheap computers that don’t run Vista good. Get a good video card if you want to Aero graphics (at least 256MB 128-bit in the newer cards). Better if you can afford.

Help me on this! Will this power supply ( OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W ) be able to support my system?

My system is:
AMD – Processor – Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
Crosshair IV formula (motherboard)
2 X DDR3 – 1333 Mhz – 2Gb Corsair
PCX Nvidia – 250 – Geforce GTS250 – 512Mo DDR3 Dual DVI (I’m willing to by another one after a while so that’s why I’m asking this question)
should I stay on my current power supply (OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W) or should I upgrade to OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W

Yeah it will support it. Power Supply is ATX and your motherboard supports ATX as well so your good on that part. The only thing you will want to double check on is will the case support the power supply?

If the computer is already built then you know for a fact that it does. Just make sure because I bought the wrong case once and had to either get a new case or send back roughly 5 online purchases to make them compatible.
