Why can I not easily find devices connected via usb port?

I am using windows vista for the first time and have tried to hook a video camera up to the computer via usb. I plugged the usb lead into the usb port, expecting the system to automatically pull up an option of how to view the video, but nothing happened. I then tried to open it by searching for it on my computer, but unlike windows xp, there was nothing listed for usb ports. Why is that?

Your webcam or device may not be compatible with Vista. Not all are.

To maually find your device, go to START, COMPUTER and your device should be there. Try and find it that way.

If its still not comming up, the USB drivers are not installed correctly. Try restarting the computer, if that fails you will need to contact your manufacturer to assist you.
