Is there a way to replace a bad motherboard without reinstalling windows?
I have an old Asrock socket 462 motherboard and its starting to go bad on me. I ordered an Epox SLi motherboard and would like to swap boards without reinstalling windows. Is there an easy way to do this?
My “current” setup:
AMD Athlon XP 2800 barton
Asrock MATX mobo
1gig ddr 400
Samsung 160 gig SATA 2 hdd
128mb GeForce 6200
LiteOn DVDRW
550watt Epower PS
My “upcoming” setup:
AMD Athlon 64 3400 venice
Epox SLi mobo
1gig ddr 400
Samsung 160 gig SATA 2 hdd
256mb GeForce 6600 (one for now)
LiteOn DVDRW
550watt Epower PS
Yes, in Windows will recongnize your new settings(BIOS) and will work. Be sure to put everything back as it was, and doublecheck everything especially the CPU when you put it back. It has to be perfectly in and aligned.
Windows will probably want to reactivate (WPA).
