cpu usage monitor
CPU Usage for Windows XP?

I was exploring my friends Windows 7 operating system and I was excited to see a cool little feature. On the top left of this dashboard he had two almost gauge like buttons that monitored his CPU usage. My XP operating system acts up a lot, and I was wondering if there was a program or something that would install a button like the gauge from windows 7 that monitors my CPU usage right from my desktop without having to Ctrl/Alt/Delete.

Thanks!

In Windows XP, there is the Task Manager.

Right click on the Taskbar and click Task Manager. A Window will open and have several Tabs. The first two tabs are programs running and can be stopped in this Window. The third tab will be usage for the RAM and CPU.

There are free apps that will allow you to monitor your cpu and ram, however, as with most apps, it will use RAM to keep the program updated. This can slow performance, but if you have more than 512 MB RAM on your XP Machine, then the slow down will be negligible.

Will a wireless desktop card only work in the pci slot that has a modem?

I checked the manufacturers website and it said I have 3 available pci slots for the card and one of them came with a modem. Is this the one the card needs to be put in then?

A wireless PCI card can be put in any PCI slot, as long as the driver has been installed first. Power down the computer and unplug it, then put the wireless card in any free or convenient PCI slot. Restart the computer, and it will detect the card – it speaks to all the PCI slots during startup to see what’s in them.

the computer language company

the computer language company
What are the company’s legal obligations in the given scenario?

The Spendbig brothers, who serve as CEO and COO of the company, want to monitor employee computer and telephone usage. They need a quick answer on the legality of reading employee e-mail as well as monitoring the Web addresses visited by employees during the workday. They also want to monitor employee telephone calls, both for quality of services as well as to determine if personal telephone calls are being made during working hours. There is no current policy language anywhere at Spendbig relating to monitoring employees in these areas.

A company has the right to see all of the information that is transmitted or received on their systems. If you are using your own personal equipment (cellphone, laptop that is yours and not using their server or the pay telephone in the lobby) they do not have that right. The stink with HP was the company was tapping personal communication devices to catch the person who was leaking information. They don’t need a policy as it is already a statutory law. Sorry, you just need to go and do your work and write e-mails to friends on your own time.

computer bad memory

computer bad memory
Notebook ram/memory causes computer to have corrupt system file?

To make a long story short, I had my computer upgraded and was told one stick my memory sdram was bad, so they took it out. When they tried to reinstall it, a corrupt system message came up in reboot. When they took it out the system rebooted nornmally.

My question… why would the “ram alone”
cause the system file to show a corrupt message?

Thn once it’s removed the computer boots normally.

Why would ram/memory affect the system.sys file?

Okay, I’ll try to explain in plain english.
Your system.sys file does a whole lot more than just manage memory, so it’s kind of a generic fault.
Why would RAM cause the system file to show a corrupt message?
The system.sys file is what tells Windows and other software how your computer is configured. So if there is a problem with your memory it will show a corruption, which basically means a major error has occurred and your computer will not function normally. This is also known as a fatal error.
RAM alone rarely goes bad that is unless it was physically damaged removing it or installing it or less likely but possible was damaged by a static discharge.
I think what happened is when they upgraded or added more RAM to your computer it was incompatible with your existing RAM though it’s pretty common.

Bad RAM = Computer Display Problem

computer terms in spanish
in spanish, how do you say dash, forward slash, back slash, ampersand, @?

I’m a developer and have a new client, I’m a spanish speaker, but I left they country before they had computers and thus i never learned these terms..thx.

dash = guión
forward slash = “barra oblicua” or “diagonal”
back slash = “barra oblicua invertida” or “diagonal invertida”
@ = arroba
& = “símbolo et”, or simply “et”. This symbol is rarely used in Spanish. When we find this symbol in old writings, we just read it “et”.
