CPU Usage for Windows XP?

I was exploring my friends Windows 7 operating system and I was excited to see a cool little feature. On the top left of this dashboard he had two almost gauge like buttons that monitored his CPU usage. My XP operating system acts up a lot, and I was wondering if there was a program or something that would install a button like the gauge from windows 7 that monitors my CPU usage right from my desktop without having to Ctrl/Alt/Delete.

In Windows XP, there is the Task Manager.

Right click on the Taskbar and click Task Manager. A Window will open and have several Tabs. The first two tabs are programs running and can be stopped in this Window. The third tab will be usage for the RAM and CPU.

There are free apps that will allow you to monitor your cpu and ram, however, as with most apps, it will use RAM to keep the program updated. This can slow performance, but if you have more than 512 MB RAM on your XP Machine, then the slow down will be negligible.

Why in some web pages the CPU usage rises 100% and when that happend the Internet Explorer just stop to work.?

I am running Norton Internet Security and I have dissable all the task because that software just do what it wants to do. I also have dissable Pop Up Blockers, and run many times Registry Mechanic and Spyware Doctor.

Too much data comes in thruout you’re line, making it freeze up.
